How to Retie Tassels on a Turkish Towel
Posted by TANYA VAUGHAN
You're folding your treasured Turkish towel, fresh from the dryer, and you spot an untied tassel. It feels like a major bummer.
But don't fret just yet.
Turkish towels were invented before wash machines and high heat dryers. Using a gentle care wash setting and low heat to dry will help preserve the cotton and the fringes, but even with gentle care, fringes can come undone/unknotted.
But don't worry. It's an easy fix with the right technique. The following 4 steps will get your towel back in tip top shape.
Follow this step-by-step process to fix untied tassels on a Turkish towel:
- Separate the threads into two equal sections
- Twist each section in a clockwise direction
- Twist both sections together in a counter-clockwise direction
- Knot tightly at the end
Separate the threads into two equal sections.
Twist each section in a clockwise direction.
Twist both sections together in a counter-clockwise direction.
Knot tightly at the end.
You're done. Repeat as necessary.

As you continue to use your towel, tassels may continue to come loose. To prevent knots from coming completely untied, check tassels before or after washing for loose knots and tighten knots as needed.
